Jan. Meeting

WE all got together for our first meeting of the year.
The hostess made us all a sack lunch it was great we all had fun with them. WE even had Cool Aid. WE all made the bags that the girls and I made for Christmas. They had a great time learning to make them and thought of all kinds of gifts they could use them for.

My GD Sara worked on quilt blocks while we were all doing bags.

I got my tree up right after Thanksgiving. But Jennie came a week later and put the ornaments on for me. It looks so much better than this photo shows. I have really enjoyed it.

I made these for gifts on Sat. My granddaughter Sara,14 needed gift for all her friends . So Sara and I cut them out and Jennie and I sewed and Sara turned them She needed 8 of them and Jennie took some for gifts for her co-workers at the Quilt shop. I kept the brown poke-a-dot.

My friend Janie come over Friday and I showed her how to put them together the 2 below are hers.

The ones we made for Kristin were a great success. The girl's in the apartment at collage loved them.

Jennie and Kristin came and the 3 off us had a sew in to make gifts for here room mates at collage. I think there is 5 in her apartment with her. We had a good time and made 18 sleep mask and 10 large cosmetic bags in all. We stopped about 11:30 P.M. Sat. night. I think it was a very productive night of sewing. We were all 3 happy with the finished product. There is one small bag we made 1st . We decided to enlarge it. I like the larger ones much better.

Some of the mask have yellow lining and some red lining.

I got a new window in the $$ pit. For 2 days I had a big open hole in my bedroom now everyone in town has seem my bedroom!

It turned into a bigger job than I expected. The wall was not good and we had to replace all the inside wall in the room.

I hope this stops the rain and water from coming in. The top of the old window had slipped 1/2" and was open . Water was coming in from the sidewalk when it rained. After all the work , $$ and time I hope it's fixed!

Quilt group Christmas! We start early!

This is what we see when we all walked into Maxine's house the night of our Christmas party. We all took food and a gife to exchange. I over endulged! Big time! Everything was so good and I didn't have to cook it!

There is not a thing better than time with good friends sharing the things we all like. Quilts , food, and each other.

This is our kickoff for the Christmas season!!

This was my Halloween costume. My D-son invited me to his H-party Sat. night. He said I could only come if I had a costume . I went and no one could tell who I was and so he thinks I did show up to the party.

This is one of my walls in my living space. Everything is out . I have not got any cupboards to put things in. Kristin helped me and put up the counter top in the corner for work space and storage. We used fence post for the legs and a part of a counter top we found in the back of the building so it was a low budget fix.

This is my kitchen sink. It was in the building and looking bad with drawers missing. With new facets and lots of scrubbing and a coat of apple green paint. Some selves made out of some stuff all ready here. I love it! Dear Granddaughter Kristin painted it for me. Then she took a old recipe book from the 50's and did a collage of the pages for me on the wall. The chair is one of five I got for $2.00 each at the Goodwill.
The building is a mess but it will get better with work and lot's of $$. It will be slow but I have more time than $$.

What's nice is I can have fun and do as I like with it.

In Nebraska now. And don't you just love duck tape?

My poor dog packed in the van. He hates to ride in the van. He was one sad puppy! Here we are packed and ready to head out from AZ. We couldn't get one more thing in IT!

It looks like the Beverly Hillbilly's on the move! Jennie did the packing of the van and the Duck tape wounder on top. We didn't have a problem with it all the way home.

We left AZ in the middle of July . Went to Waco , TX. to see #1 Grand Daughter , Kristin at Mission Waco where she spent 10 weeks this Summer. Then it was on to NE.

I will have some photos of my living space in the old building I bought last Oct. When I have time to post them.

I have a job taking care of a couple that are so nice. They are a joy to be with and to do for.

4th of July

Jennie, Linda, and I went to a early breakfast and watched the coaster car races and then the funny car parade. It was a wonderful morning. DD Jennie taking photos of the funny cars.

I hope everyone has a great 4th and a safe one.

IT now raining as it dose every 4th here in the afternoon. Our Monsoons are here. WE need the rain so much it great to see rain for the first time in a very long time.

Arizona

Jennie my DD came in yesterday to spend a week and then we are heading back to Nebraska. Were I will spend a few months. I hope to back in AZ. by Oct. 1st. For the winter. I don't like the cold NE. winters with ice and snow and blowing cold winds. This is my DA Gladys's house that I have lived in for the last year.

This is part of the main st. in Old Bisbee . Jennie took it because she liked the building with all the bright colors.

I am back and got a new puppy!

This is Kota. He is a mix of pug and pick. 6 months old and his birthday is 1/1/2011. I got him from the border rescue here in Bisbee. He was not socialized and was afraid of everything .

He is coming along very well . Acting like a puppy and happy.

I was in Nebraska for 3 weeks and went to #1 grandsons graduation and #3 granddaughters 8th grade graduation. This is my DD Jennie and Sara at the ceremony.

Here is my Josh. He was #3 in his class. I am so proud of the grand kids they all do very well in school.

This is Kristin and Sara. Kristin is in her last year of collage and is in Waco TX. this Summer doing missionary work there.

I made this tote, a key fob and a coin purse from the left overs from my large bag . It's all box up to send to Jennie so I don't have to carry it all on the plane the May 3. It will be nice to see all my quilt friends at the quilt meeting in Orchard. I am looking forward to seeing their projects.

Josh the oldest grandchild is graduating the 7th of May. They all are growing up to fast to suit me!!

This is the back of my bag I made for Jennie's challenge she sent me. It was a 1/2 a sweatshirt panel she sent me and gave the quilt group members back in Orchard.
I used instructions and all that was on the panel.

This is a challenge Jennie sent me. She sent me a pre-print panel for a quilted sweat shirt . From the late 80's or early 90's? Not my kind of thing it was mostly blue. So I pulled 4 other patriotic fabrics and cut them in strips and pin weaved them together. Now I am sewing red metallic cord over the seams that join. You can see the 2 rows I have done on the bottom. I think it will be a bag to put in the car for a carry all.

Linda a DF and I stopped at a nursery and we had to buy these pretty little flowers. It's a Iceplant . Used mostly for ground cover.

In time it will fill in very nicely. I wanted something easy to care for here in the high desert. It likes the dry heat.

I got going on a new cloths line bowl . I got the strips for the free stuff at the Fiber Arts Studio.

We are having a festival in the middle of may. I will be in NE. but I will donate things for the ticket drawing. This bowl is up for grabs if you are in the Bisbee area on May 14th at the Festival.

New Flip Flops

The only thing I got while in Florida was My new flip flops. I ran in a store that I like there and saw these and they called to me. They had to come home with me. I think I was in the store for a whole 10 min. That was all the shopping I got to do. Today I had some time so I got a pedicure for my self.

Cell phone

I needed something to put my cell phone in when it's in my handbag. It's black and so is the lining of the handbag. I could hear it ringing but couldn't find it. Now I can find it or carry it around my wrist. It's nice and bright!!

I need rewards for a group I am in. So I made more key fobs and 5 book marks . I have 8 of the pink and brown ones left to add to these. I have about 20 in my group. Some day I hope to get some real sewing done. Like a quilt or wall hanging.

After Christmas sales are great!! I got this at Walmart for $1.50. My DA Gladys and I have been watching it ever day until she went to get her hip replaced. I took this photo for her to see. She is doing very well in rehab with her hip. She isn't in pain 24-7 like she was.

Yes it is snowing that's why the photo is not clear . Yesterday was in the 60's . A cold front came and it's snowing now. It won't last long so it's kind of nice to see it. It's just enough to remind me I don't like cold weather.

Yes I made 14 more for gifts to friends and for rewards at a group I belong to. They are fast and fun to make using up some of my many scraps I have.
Cathy I have been looking for the invoice that came with my hardware. All I did was type in key fob hard ware and did a search and found lots of places to order from. Some have minimums but some don't. I use my crop-o-dial to close the hardware together but they do sell special pliers for it also.

Yes more of the same! I got 50 of the hard ware for the key fobs. So yes I am on a kick!! I like to make pretty ones but the guys in my life don't like to carry pretty key rings!!
I got the belting scraps for under $3.00 for 3 yards when I got the hard ware.

It's A new year and yes I got something done yesterday!! It's a step in the right direction!!It's a UFO!! A real one . Someone gave the fan's to Jennie and she sent them to me to finish. I put them on a W on W and used rick rack on the top and bottom of the fans. This will be in the mail today for DD Jennie to quilt for a little girl. I hope to get more sewing time in the next year!! In Quilt Art Magazine gift issue this last Christmas I saw these Key fobs.

So I got on the Internet and found some hard ware and this is the first one I have done. I couldn't sleep last night so I got out my little scrap box and found pinks and browns.

It will be in the box Jennie!!

I think they will make nice little gifts for everyone.

It's a good way to use up all the little scraps from other thing.

I have been making sleep mask for friends and family. I am one of those people that gets up with the Sun. Even a little light and I am up and wide a wake. I made one for my self and liked it so now every one is getting one.
I like using my darker Batiks for them . It also gives me a chance to practice my free motion quilting.

The date book will fit in side so it will be easy to carry in a hand bag. I wish I had put a pen holder in it but she can clip it to the inside I think.

This is the quilt my DF in my Orchard quilt group made for my DS that was in a bad accident and has a lot of fractures in his body.
What dear friends they are to think of him and give this quilt to him . I flu back to Nebraska when it happened and he has a lot of pain with everything . He will take a while to mend but he is alive!! I am happy to say!! I got to spend Thanks Giving with all my family so there was a good side to the trip.

In my TOPS group we have nominations for our Angel of the year. IT is a person that gives and goes beyond the normal in our group. I made the thank you gift for them this year.
There are so many in our group that work very hard to make it all work for use. I think it will be hard to choose just one. AT least it got me to the sewing machine!

This handsome fellow was on the rail this morning to greet me at 6:30. He was so cold he couldn't move. He is about 2 in. or so long and when he opens his wings to fly he has a very nice color of reddish orange in side them. . I nudged and poked to get him to open them but no luck. it was to cold for him. Now me I thought it was just right outside this morning as I enjoyed the morning and my chi tea!!! This is what I got when I went to see the kids. A old building that needs lots of work! It's really 2 buildings with a common wall. Each is about 25 feet across . As I said it will take a lot of work to get it in shape.
DD Jennie and I have big plans for it and we both have ideas of what to do with it.
For now it's just some place to store my belongings and boy do I have stuff!!
It was so good to see my kids and g-kids and a lot of old friends the last 2 weeks in Nebraska .
But I am just whipped! The weather was just great while I was there.

Fall is in the air here. The nights are cool and the days are warm but not to hot.I actually got some sewing done last night. I got a new magazine yesterday at the grocery store. Fon's & Porter's Quilting Celebrations. It was full of good things to make you think and yes SEW!
I was at the $$ store and got this candle for $ .75 . That started it. Came home looked at the book and thought how nice it would look with the leaves for another project in the book. A few hours later this is my version of the mini candle mat . It's just 12"'s in diameter. I made it for a raffle basket at my TOPS group . Now I wish I could keep it. But I all ways think I can make another one if I really want one.

This is my 1st attempted in over a year in my Yahoo group called Abstract Challenge.The word was Rhythm I am a little rusty at doing my abstracted work. The best part was the rhythm of my sewing machine as I was sewing . I love my machine!!!
Taking care of my DA Gladys and DU Al has been a hand full for over a year. DU Al is in a A-Living home now and is doing well. But about the time he went in My DA got bad and her health isn't good. She keeps me hopping!! Going to Doc. visits and test and so on and so forth.

Finishing some UFO's

I had 10 of these in stages to finish from Christmas 2009. DD Jennie sent them in one of my many boxes of things to Florida for me to work on . I am now in Arizona and finally getting around to finishing them. They will be handy for small gifts with a mug or coffee cup!

This is going to be a quilt some day . It was a block of the month at the Quilters Candy Shop were my DD Jennie works a few years ago. It's with Thangles for 1/2 sq. triangles.

It's called "All Most Amish".I only have 3 out of 12 blocks done so it may take me a while to get it finished.

I finished this 2 days ago but just got around to take a photo. It is free blocks to embroidery or appl. I did them in brown . This was a TV watching project. Bunny Hill Designs puts a free pattern out each month to down load. They are doing snowmen this year. Check them out they have some very nice patterns at their sight.

It was so nice to have a sewing day to get a UFO finished.

This was a rain bow that was out side our fount door the other day. It was a sight to behold!!
The photos do not do it justice!!

It was about 5:00 PM or so when I took these.

No I didn't find a pot of gold!! But I did get to see on of Mother Natures gifts to us.

We have rain every late afternoon or evening here this time of year. The Desert is green and things are blooming. I love the Arizona climate!!

I found this little bag pattern on allpeoplequilt.com . It isn't hard and it go's fast! I user it in my purse to carry things in. It's just right for a cosmetic bag if you carry them.

I finished 6 of my to-go cups for gifts. I did a little string piecing and used my stitches on the sewing machine to quilt them. I love these blues and greens together!!! they will be a fun gift for coffee and tea drinkers. I got the cups at a $$$ store in Florida. They were for kids to color and draw things for gifts. Well I am a big kid at times and I know my quilt friends are all kids at heart!!!

Hi it's been a while for me and my blog. Things keep me hopping here. With my DA and DU.
Uncle Al is going into a home next week. It's just getting to much to take care of him . I will still have My Aunt to TAKE CARE OF. BUT IT SHOULD BE A LOT EASIER. AL IS A BIG MAN AND IT'S SO HARD TO HAND HIM. HE IS IN BED MOST OF THE TIME. This is a photo of a little bag I won at my Tops meeting last week. I lost the most! I needed a book to keep my notes and #'s lost in . So I covered a small journal book that will fit in the bag with other things I need to take. By the way I lost 6 #'s last week!!! I was the big loser for the week!! I don't think that will be the case this Friday at the meeting with the 4th and then out to lunch at Applebee's this week!!!

I am hoping to get some sewing done but who knows around here what will happen next???

The cactus are so bright . I love them when they bloom! I like it here so much better than Florida. No humidity!! I can breath again.

I even got to sew a little again. I hope things will get settled and I will have more time again.

Bisbee is a funny place. Lots of arts and craft people here and a lot of old Hippies. I have joined the fiber art council and hope to get to try some spinning and weaving. Maybe paper making?

Also dyeing of fabric and fibers.
I am so glad to have my computer up and running .

It's been a while!
My DU Al has been in and is out of the rest home now and we are going to move to Bisbee Arizona. My DA left with her daughter Saturday afternoon and Al , Little Dog and I will be going in about 2 weeks . Lots to do before we go.
The best part is Bisbee has a large art community. Maybe I will have a chance to do some sewing and fiber art.

Left over UFO's

HAPPY EASTER!!!
This is one of 2 table runners I am making out of left over blocks from my Christmas quilt. The other one is just the same. It's ready to quilt and bind.
Then I can start on some thing new.
I have been under the weather for all most 2 weeks with food poisoning. Don't eat salads out!!
Maybe I can get back to sewing now that I am starting to feel better.

Spring here in Florida

It's Spring here and everything is starting to bloom and leaf out. I thought it was Spring all winter. Compared to Nebraska winters. It was nice here. I can tell it's Spring by my allergies. It's time to pop the pills!!

finally # 9 is done. This one I have put together 3 ways and ripped it out.
I have six fans in each row and a row left over . So that row will be my next UFO . I will make it into some thing. What I am not sure of yet? So stay tuned to this sight. It's 62" x 89". I am going to bind it with the red. It will be nice next Christmas when it's quilted.

I have started sewing my fans on to the back ground sq's . I was so happy to find some fabric that has the gold sparkles on it like the back ground in the Christmas print of the fans. It's one of those nights . I can't sleep. I got up at 3:00 this morning.

Yes one more fan quilt. It will be my #9 in my list of UFO's.This was one of my first ones I started. I love this Christmas print.
The light tan or cream fabric has a little gold sparkle just like the back ground in the fans.
I am not sure how I will put this one together yet. I need to put the fans on squares and put the 1/4 circle on the bottom of the fans first. I have to decide if I want red or green 1/4 circles on the fans?

# 7 Faster than I thought!!

I was faster than I thought and got this one done this afternoon. The light this time of day isn't very good for photos . It looks yellower than it is. I did antique it with a green tea bag . Not as good as other teas but it what I had. It turned out 9" x 12 1/2" .
This is one more that I have had for over 10 years kicking around.

No you haven't missed one ! #7 is still in the works.
But # 8 is done and in the send to Jennie pile. This one will get a black binding. I don't have sufficient fabric left of the print or red to make a binding. I would tell my students you could use ugly fabric and it would make great repeats for fans. The print was in the quilt shop and wouldn't sell so I used it.
I am coming along with #7 it should be done in a day or so. Some times the little things take to longest to do.
The wind was blowing but I did get one fair photo out of three.
This quilt is 64" x 82". It has 4 x 5 rows. The blocks are 10" finished.

Here it is # 8 . Yes more fans. I made these as a demo while sitting in the quilt shop's booth at a show. Again about 11 years ago. I hope to finish #'s 7 & 8 by the end off this month.

I know this doesn't look like much, but it's something I started and never finished over 10 years ago. It's only 9" x 12". I need to embroider the border with little holly leaves and scallop's. It's been tossed from pillar to post as the saying goes. DD Jennie sent it in the last box of UFO's.
I know she is trying to tell me something!!
It's also a TV project with my feet up in the recliner. I may have to work on # 8 at the same time .
Something I can sew on the sewing machine.
Now to go through my stuff and pick # 8 out.

I got #6 finished . All quilted and bound. I hung it over my bed here at my Aunt and Uncles here in Florida. It's nice to have something of mine on the walls. I miss all my quilts and things I have made.
Now to think about #7 and what will it be??

I finished it last night. That's #5 in the very long list of UFO's. I just got 2 more boxes of UFO's from my DD Jennie. I think she is worried that I may leave them all for her to finish or maybe my D Granddaughters?? Yes there are that lots and lots of them! The color is not as bright in the photo. As you all can see I am not the best at taking photos. It's going to DD Jennie to quilt she is getting a very large stack piled up to quilt for me.
Now it's on to #6.( in a previous blog) I need to machine quilt it and bind it so I can hang it on my bedroom wall. It's basted and ready to go. Now I just have to find some thread I like for it.

Hi all,
This will be my on going project. I need a project to do while setting with my Aunt and Uncle watching old movies in the evening. If I don't have something to keep my hands busy I get antsy. The patterns for the 12 blocks come from Bunnie Hill free block of the month. They were last years patterns. It is red work but I am doing mine in Brown. While D Aunt and I were at the fabric store yesterday I found this cute print to set them together with. I will get a pink fabric later to finish it with . I have found it easier to buy the fabric and then match the embroidery thread to it than get the thread and try to find fabric to match.
I am ready to set my block of the month quilt together. I have all the 20 corner stone blocks and the 31 lattices pieced and now to get it done.
We are going to have cold nights 30 or so and cool days of 50 so I should be able to get some sewing done.

After Christmas sales are the best! I got these for a $1.00 each when they were originally $5.00 before Christmas. I have been watching them grow every day. Now they are just gorges!

the true color is about the color showing in the center. My camera flash made them look different.

What joy a couple of $$'s have given my Aunt and I.

I haven't got much sewing done this week I do have the strips cut for my block of the month quilt. May be I can get some of them put together today??

Jennie here it is. It looks more green than it is. The background is more lime colored than it looks. I need 32" sq. for the back. The background is more the color of the dots in the yellow half sq. border. This was a round robin that I took part in at Norfolk , NE. quilt guild. I did the center and other quilters added the borders. I was going to do this next but didn't get any of the fabrics that went with this project.
My DD Jennie is going to my quilt room in Nebraska and look for some of my fabrics for it.

Hopefully she can find some of them for binding and backing.

This was a Just a buck block of the month at the Quilter's Candy Shop . I think about 2 years ago. I have the 12 blocks done but I never put it together. It was made with thangles. It has finishing instructions but I may set it together some other way.
The 2 fabrics I have to put it together is on the upper right of the photo. There's a multi dark print and a rust batik.

I finished the mystery quilt I got from Joan Waldman. It's 88" x 104" it should fit my queen size bed just fine.
I am happy to say I got 4 quilts done this month . They have all been waiting for me for some time to finish. DD Jennie will be getting them all in the mail later this week.
Now I have to pick another project to complete.

Here it is my next UFO.
This one is a mystery from my friend Joan in Nebraska. At Christmas a year ago last Christmas it got put a way so I could work on gifts for Christmas . You know once it's put a way It has a hard time coming out to get finished. It's time it was finished. I love the colors and fabrics in this one.

It stated to rain yesterday and has been a down pore all night. It makes it very hard to sleep when it is rains over 2" a hour. It's funny here, they don't give the inches of rain in 24 hours on the news. Back in Nebraska rain was all ways announced. It was news!!!! I guess they have so much rain here they don't care? All I know is I have never seen so much rain so fast. They have had flood and tornado warnings all night.

New fabric and DA B-day

Here are my new fabrics I got for Keepsake Quilts. It was surprise meddles, and the Hoffman challenge in the upper left corner.I just love a good surprise!!

To day is my Aunts birthday and I embroidered a new robe and got her a cake she loves pink.

The cake is called Raspberry elegance. It has Raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting. I hope it's as good as it sounds!! She is 77 today.

It's been a busy week not so much for quilting as much as life.
I did get the 1/4 circles on my fan blocks. I hope to get them set together this week. This is the stack of throws and finished quilt tops on my dresser. Another 18" to the ceiling.

No I am not sure what I am making them for. They keep my hands going while I am spending time in front of the TV with My Aunt and Uncle. They like me to be with them in the evening.

I think we have had 3" of rain in 24 hours. I hope the sun comes out today.

I see a lot of stars on my map and want to thank everyone for stopping by and looking at my Blog.

This is my next project. I did these blocks when stack and whack first came out. I had classes at the quilt shop and all over the area . Teaching this . There are lots of fan quilts in the state of NE. I have to put mauve 1/4 circles on the fans yet and the I hope I have enough fabric for the rest of the quilt.
This was to be a Christmas quilt. About 11 years ago. Sara my DGD is 12 now and she was a baby. I think it's time to finish this one.

I just finished this this afternoon. If I would have had more of my print and greens I would have done this different. Some times you just have to make do with what you have. I would have made my lattice's green. I only had a 1/2 yd. of the 2 greens each. So they made the border. I like the 2 colors for the inside border.

The quilt is 97"'s sq. so I know it will fit my queen size bed. I am going to bind it with the green pear print.

This is the last of 25 blocks. I did it last night. I was in a trade with 23 other quilters called Your Fabric My Pattern we all got packets of every one's fabric and then made them all a block with a block pattern I picked out. I needed one more to get 25 blocks so here it is. I got corner stones and lattices cut last night so now it's sewing time. I think I am going to like this quilt. Yes its green!!!
We did this all most 2 years ago, it took over a year to get the blocks back. Then I put it a way for a while. DD Jennie sent it to me here in FL. I think she is trying to tell me something???
I got the green pear print to many years ago to think about. I had been wanting to use it so when this trade came a long I used it. I bought all they had for around $2.00 a yard. I wish they would have had 3 more yards of it . I don't have enough for borders so I have to use the tan and gold I used as background.

I got this done after being packed a way and then Jennie sending it to me from Nebraska. It feels good to get a UFO done! The ladies in NE. will be surprised to see it done.
It's to be so cold here for to night and the next that I wish I had it done. Down in the teens . Burrrrrr!

This is a throw that I was doing with my O"Neil quilt group last year. We all swapped fabrics for this one. It's all ready to put the block's together. The borders are cut and waiting for me.
Hopefully I can get it done in t few days so I can get to another UFO.
I am trying hard to start the NY out right and do some more things I all ready have started.

It's a New Year and it's time to start my year out doing some of my UFO's.
Jennie has sent me some of mine so I have no excuse for not working on them. I meant a lady here in the park that is a quilter and she belongs to the quilt gild here so we are making plans to go. At last I have found a quilter!!!!
I will post a photo of the one I will start in a few days.
It was a very quiet New year's eve here. DA and Al gave up around 11:40 and went to bed so I saw the New year in by my self.
Everyone here in Florida sets off fireworks for the New Year. It sounded like a war zone for a while then by 12:05 it was silent.

Yes I am feeling very happy . My Dear Sister Donna sent me a gift of 2 doz. mixed roses and the small box of chocolates that I consumed immediately. The photo isn't very good but they are beautiful. The chocolates weren't bad ether!! My Dear friend Debby sent this book of where we lived and grow up. It's just full of photos from the past and present.

Everyone in my life has been so thoughtful this year. I am just overwhelmed with it all.

What would I do with out my family that sent me wonderful things to brighten up my Christmas away from them? They are all so thoughtful and good to me. Some of the nice and perfect gifts from my sister Sue. It was so much fun to open the box.

Yes my slippers fit! thank you Sue! Jennie sent me this stack fabric. What more could a quilter ask for?

A bag to put them in! I just love the fabrics she used to make this bag just for me.

They have made me fell very special and blessed this Christmas. Their thoughtfulness and good wishes were just the thing for me here in not so sunny Florida!

I got this pattern from Embroidery Library for $1.00. I love this sight on the Internet. They have 1/2 price and $1.00 sales all the time. it makes it very affordable to but designs. I like one color embroidery.
I found this frame at the $ General Store near me for $2.00. I think it is just perfect for this embroidery.
I got all 3 frames and will do 2 more for gifts.

It makes gift giving a fun thing when it doesn't cost you a arm and a leg.

I stitched these out on the embroidery machine yesterday. They are going In Christmas cards.
I put a note on the back to be used for tree ornament or a book mark.
I made them flat to mail in a card.

These are some of my Christmas gifts I have been working on. I by the throws and crochet around them and embroider the names or the first letter of their name on them. It is a little more personal that way.

This one Is for my uncle and aunt, in Washington. I made them a special ornament as you can see. They love to gamble.

I used the 5 FQ's I messed up and 2 more to make this on. I made all the blocks the same way and used one fabric for part of it. I just turned the middle row and just staggered them. It's not a great work of art but I like it better than the other ones. It will keep someone warm.
And yes NW it does go very fast. I think they take longer to cut than to sew up.
I have been trimming some fleece throws and I think I am going to embroidery on them. I will post a photo when I finish some of them.

Hi! It's Friday the 13th! Yes it was a day! I cut 5 FQ's wrong. So I down sized then I cut some others wrong. I mixed and matched and made do. I sewed fabric inside out. Well you get it by now everything I tried to do was not right today. It should have only taken 2 hours at the most but it took all day. I hope the person that gets it for Christmas enjoys it.
Thanks everyone for you input. I am with you Linda. I think this is the last one for me but I do have the 5 FQ's miss cut and going to give myself a challenge to see what I can do with them.

TV time

I have to sit a watch TV with my Aunt and Uncle in the evening so I have been doing receiving blankets. I have all ready sent Jennie 2 and I hope to get these in the mail with the quilt tops Monday. I have one more quilt top to put together. I like to do the little girl ones more than the little boys . But little boys need them to!!

These are fast but just to scrappy for me. I like things to go together and look more pulled together. They will make a good drag a long quilt in the chair, on the floor or anywhere they want to curial up and snuggle under a quilt. They are to be used and enjoyed for there comfort.

Well we all lucked out here and the hurricane wasn't very bad. It did rain a lot and the wind blow but not to bad.

I made this little cover for my DC Gayla's granddaughter. I think Lilli will like it . I got the strings from a bag of scrap strings I got from Hancock fabrics. they were on sale cheap. I had to make do with what I had. It's big enough to use as a nap cover for a 4 year old that loves pink. this one is for my DC Gayla. She likes neutral colors and light blues so I had DD Jennie pick me out some FQ's and send to me.

It is a turning 20 pattern and goes very fast. After the cutting that is.

More address books. That will finish Christmas gifts for my Orchard quilt group. Now to pack them up and send them off. I have been using scraps from a aunt grace quilt I finished and sent to DD Jennie to quilt.

My chunky pin cushions. These are 4" to 5" sq. and 3" or so tall. I like making them out of left overs from my quilt projects and they do make great gifts for sewers.

I got my sewing machine Tuesday and it's be humming along every scents. I did these for some family and friends in Arizona. Everyone can use a new address book.

These are for my quilt group back in Orchard they are going to have their Christmas party the second Monday of November. I am sending them to my DD Jennie to put on the books for me and wrap them as it cost so much to mall books back and forth. I had the address books in my sewing room and left them for her to take care of for me.

The top one with the L is the only one with a book in it.

My birthday surprise

DD Jennie sent my sewing machine and other sewing things , fabric and my quilt she finished for me for my Birthday the 25 th of this month. what a nice surprise it was in the bottom of the box!!Of coarse I had to bind it before I could use it . But that was just fine I did it last night while watching an old movie with my DA Gladys.

I had the 2 boxes Jennie sent unpacked and the machine was humming all afternoon. I am so happy to have my sewing machine I think you could say it's my best friend. I missed it everyday . The last 2 months have been long ones with out it.

This is the Island on the other side of the bridge from me. It's all Hotels and vacation rentals and a public beach. This is the bridge that takes you to the Island. Navarre bridge.

It was about 8:00 this morning and cool the little sea birds were no moving well yet.

These were all taken from the park by the bridge this morning. It promises to be a nice day.

I go out to breakfast on Sat. mornings. Just for a change from the rest of the week. I leave everyone sleeping and leave between 6:30 and 7:00. I even got to stop at a rummage sale one of the many Churches was having. My big finds were 4 knitted dish cloths and a laundry basket. I spent $1.50.
