2 For One?

I had 2 groups challenges to do by the end of the month. So I put them together. In one group the word was kitchen and in the other it was sign. I call this My Kitchen Sign. I have to find a place to hang it now.
It was one of those fast little projects. I mixed 2 colors of paint together for the knife and fork. Then stamped them on the kitchen print. I quilted around them and then I started to think of words that fit for a kitchen. Family, Heart, Home, Eat and Food. For a 2 hour project I am happy with it. And it only took Sat. morning to do!

Storms and Blocks

We had storms again last night. So I worked on lotto blocks for my quilt group Stash Builders.
We watched the storm clouds for a long time last night.
We were very lucky it was not as bad as the Southern part of the state.
All that was on TV was Storm stuff and you can only look at that so long so it was off to the sewing room for me. I thought if I was going to get blown a way I would be doing something I enjoyed.
The blocks had to be floral prints and W-on-W . I don't seem to have many fl orals in my stash it was hard to come up with 4 I could use together.
Today it has been a beautiful morning. With the sun shining and the birds singing.
I hope it can stop raining long enough so I can get the garden plowed and planted.

Mono printing?

I had a hour this morning to play and try mono printing. That's this months challenge in one of my groups. The colors I used don't show up well in the photo. They are pearly and luminescent.
It reminded me of finger painting so that's what I did.
This is what is called a learning experience!

Now to figure out something to make with it. The paper I used to put the paint on is neat. I am going to keep it and use it for wrapping paper. It turned out better than the fabric.

We got more rain tonight and more coming. Thing are pretty soggy here. We haven't got our garden in yet. I went and got plants for it after work tonight. I thought if it did hail I may not get y. Everyone will be replanting. That happen one year to use we all got hail and had to replant gardens and it was very hard to find plants to replant with.

Sunday Afternoon Play

I Had the afternoon free and had a trade I needed to work on. So I spent the afternoon working on it and playing.
These are called Button Fairies . This is my version. I thought I would experiment making the wings.I took some holographic tissue paper and sandwiched it with iridescent organdy. Then I used a free standing lace pattern and embroidered it for the wings. It was interesting and fun but the wire was hard to get in the buttons and place them were they belonged.
They don't look much like some of the others I have seen some use butterfly wings and faces.
I made do with what I had on hand. I would like to of had larger buttons. I thing they will be O.K.
It has got very warm this afternoon. My sewing room is getting hot and stuffy.

I am still here!

Hi . It's been a while. I have had the bug. It put me down for a few days but I feel better today. I slept for 2 days and had 2 napes today. I get tired easy.
So I did get some sewing done today. I could sit and watch my sewing machine work. Just set the pattern and let the machine do the rest. I love the embroidery machine.
We have had lots of rain here. With thunder and lighting. I think it's supposed to rain off and on all week end. D dog Teddy and I watched it rain buckets this afternoon.

I did this set for a trade in my Sew Good Friends yahoo group. The theme was Summer.
Then I made 4 potholders for prizes for the week long Sewing Bee we had all week on a Yahoo quilting group Stash Builders. I donated 2 for prizes and one for the hostess and one for DD Jennie. I put every ones name on theirs.

Fairy Shoes!

You would think A grown woman would get over Fairy's and such. This is my attempted at Fairy shoes. It is a trade in one of my groups. They said you could trade 1 to 3 pair of shoes. I went with one pair. (Boy am I glad)
I would not have made it to 3 pair. They are only 4" long and I am not a beadier! What a Friday night project! I lead a exciting life!

We had a wonderful sunny and warm day with not much wind.

Little Orphan Any?

Little Orphan Any is the name of a round robin that I have been participating in. I added the yellow, cat tracks and red. We had to add 3" to all sides. I left the sides a little big so the next person had a little play. She can trim it down to fit her round.
This one I added the purple and teal. I was not as happy with how it went together as the cat one. But I think the owner will like it.
I got mine back and now to find time to quilt it.
It's nit what I usually do it's in red and black. I thought it would be a change. It came out well.
DGD didn't make it today to do pillow cases. She has a cold or something? Not feeling well what ever it is. So I had time to get these done. They will go out in the morning mail to the next person.
