I got something done!!!

I got busy and made this for a exchange in my S.G.F. Yahoo group. The theme is Red, White, and Blue. You can send any thing you like as long as you put at least one sewn thing in and it will all fit in a quart zip bag. I am not much of a blue person or at least not in my stash. I did find lots of reds in my scraps so it became a red journal cover. I have some other things to add to the bag and boy is it going to be a tight fit!!!
It feels good to get some thing sewn after a bad Head-A for 4 days.

A great day in the mail!!

I got 2 packages in the mail today! What a good mail day it was! I am doing a joyous happy dance.(I am also glad no one can see me!) First I opened my trade with Wanda in my F.A.T. Yahoo group and low and behold there was the red and green Trashy Clutch. Wanda made it out of a Mylar balloon it is just marvelous!
She also put some little tuck-ins in the package. Thanks Wanda it is just great!
Then I got a package ( a large box) of Batik fabrics from Linda in Arizona. Linda is a friend that works for my DC Gayla in her Silver Jewelry shop in Bisbee.
She is so generous she shared her Batiks with me. She said she has so many that she will never get them all used and that she knew I would love and enjoy them.
You know how you do little things and never think a thing about it. You never expect anything and then someone will blow you away with there thanks. It makes me want to cry for joy at the acts of kindness others show.

another trade.

This is a trade I received from Char in my S.G.F. Yahoo group. We had to put sewing and hand made things in a Lay's potato chip can and send it. These little trades are fun and easy to do.
The next one is a quart swap. You get a quart zip bag and fill it with Red , White and Blue. One thing has to be sewn. I love the challenge of finding things to fit in the container are bag.

Birdy Tea Towel Trade

I received this today from Fostine a lady in my Yahoo S.G.F. group. I love the fabric and colors she used. I will put the ice cream scoop to good use this Summer.
It was a fun little trade.

Jennie's Trashy Clutches

Jennie must have liked my TC because when she came by yesterday she brought me 2 plastic bags a hot pink and a black. I had a piece of pink and black batik so that's what it got for lining. If I was going out and buying fabric for it it would of been black and hot pink small pock a dots.
I kind of like the striation that the plastic takes on when heat is applied.
So Jennie when are you coming to get them?

Trashy Fiber Clutch

I got into a trade on one of my yahoo groups, Called fiber artist Traders. It's one of my favorite groups. They are all ways coming up with new things to try. These are called Trashy Clutches. I made 2 one to trade and one to keep.
You take plastic bags and melt to paper (I used freezer paper) but you can use paper bags if you have them. I took 3 bags a white with yellow lettering, A black one, and a yellow with green lettering. I melted them to the freezer . It made enough for 2 bags. I lined it with a batik and used iron on fusible fleece between. Then I quilted it with variegated thread. I then sprayed it with a clear paint I got on a sale table a long time ago. Trimmed it, folded it, and stitched it up. Added a big bead and a pony tail elastic for a closer. It was kind of fun and it didn't take long to do.

Top finished

Sunday morning I finally got to finish the quilt top we made blocks for in my Orchard group. It's not pressed but I do have the back put together. so it's ready to go to DD Jennie to be quilted.
I go to 5 days from 1 to 5 at the museum this week so my sewing time will be cut back for the Summer. I thought I needed to get it done before because if I put it a way it would never get done.

Meeting and a trade

We had our Orchard Quilters meeting last night. I was my turn to be the hostess with the mostess!
We got 35 sting blocks done. We also ate a lot. Thanks Linda, Luanne, Jennie, Linda P. Maxine, and Jane. For all the work. I hope to get these set together soon. Then it will go to Charity.
I did this little trade in my Sew Good Friends yahoo group. We had to trim a dish towel and put a bird on it and include a kitchen idem and recipe cards. I did make the recipe cards but they are not in the photo. I put corn sewers in a jar. for the kitchen idem.

Bags & a quilt

Jennie put this quilt together for a boy that is graduating today. I put the binding on it for her and the girls came for lunch and picked it up. I don't like plastic bags you get at the grocery store or when shopping. Jennie made me 2 of these for me to carry things in. It was a nice surprise.
Jennie made this one for me for Mothers day.it Also had some fat-q's in it. Another nice surprise.

One more bag Jennie made me. It is made out of this years shop hop fabrics here in Nebraska.
We were going Thur Mom's jewelry box and had found the pin that is on the tab. I think it's a good match!

It was another nice surprise.

Graduation gifts

Hi all!
Jennie ask me to make some composition covers for graduation gifts . 2 boys and a girl
This shows the backs of the covers. Here's the front.
Some times it's hard to make things for boys I had to dig in my stash to find some thing that would work. For Brandy's I used left overs from some place mats I made a while back. She likes butterfly's and purple. It's so funny to see all the kids graduate I remember them when they started school.
